JAPANESE MASTERY

From Ritual to Material

Inspired by traditional Japanese construction techniques, Incastri reinterprets in a contemporary key some of the core concepts of Japanese culture: Chidori, a modular system of wooden joints without nails or screws, and Chōzu, the purification ritual related to water. These elements are translated into essential forms, tactile textures and architectural surfaces that merge tradition with technology.

Yakisugi Effect

The washbasin processing draws inspiration from the ancient Yakisugi technique, which gives a unique and water-repellent texture. This tradition is reimagined by Gessi using innovative materials to faithfully reproduce the material effect of charred wood, delivering surfaces with surprising tactility, where rough and smooth areas alternate. The result is a unique materiality capable of combining innovation, aesthetics and the memory of artisanal gestures.
