THE WOOD ARTISANS IN THE NEW GESSI 3 HUB

The artisan workshop of our wood masters has been transferred to the new technological hub in Gessi 3. This wide dedicated area of 1,700 square meters accommodates new technologies and enables optimization of processes and greater production efficiency.

The physical relocation of the department is also a result of improved interconnection within the company’s logic and procedures, with its integration into SAP and the management of transportation now under the supervision of logistics.

Andrea Bianchi, who celebrated his 17th anniversary at Gessi on September 3rd, leads a team of 11 professionals who daily work with the entire company to meet the numerous custom requirements we receive from the market and the Case Gessi. A fundamental unit of our reputational success, the artisan wood workshop provides a concrete contribution to highlight the uniqueness and Made in Italy quality signed by Gessi, offering a higher level of display system on the market.

The department works in two shifts, in order to guarantee flexibility - also in handling emergencies - as well as preventing waiting times on the machines. The core of the production is the work centre, which runs up to 16 hours daily to realise more complex projects. Recent examples of special machining are the prototyping of Jaqueline ceramics, Perle washbasin moulds, and Kengo Kuma moulds.

Today the new, more modern location boasts:
10 new workbenches designed according to the needs of the department; 2 aspirated benches for fine dust; a new, higher performant aspiration system including heat energy efficiency: the extracted air is recovered for heating the department itself. 80,000 m3/hour; a new layout of machines and benches that enhances workflow. The study was carried out with the team and the Production Management to provide a proper and efficient layout for the use of space and to create a regular flow of incoming and outgoing material by arranging the service machines in the same direction and keeping them close to each other; a dedicated area for incoming/outgoing material; a warehouse to exploit height and optimise space; better lighting system; ad hoc storage bins to contain wood waste.

The skilful hands of these craftsmen have created truly unique pieces: the Vita Gessi coffee furniture, mirrors, trunks. And even the bar counter at the Salone del Mobile, the canteen furniture, the Project Boutiques and the bathrooms of the technological hub of Gessi 3.

PERLE LANDS IN NEW YORK

From September 5th to 29th, in the pop-up dedicated to Made in Italy furniture inside one of New York’s most iconic department stores, the flagship Bloomingdale’s on 59th Street, Gessi brings the highest expression of Italian design and craftsmanship to the world of bathroom furnishings with the Haute Culture Perle collection.

Bloomingdale’s has chosen Salone del Mobile.Milano as the exclusive partner for the site-specific installation “Italian Design: from Classic to Contemporary,” located on the sixth floor in the Home/Furnishing department. This collaboration is part of Bloomingdale’s “From Italy with Love” project, a tribute to the icons and new proposals from over twenty brands, accompanied by a series of talks aimed at introducing the American public to the world of Italian production. These talks, scheduled for September, will highlight the influence of Made in Italy on luxury, design, culture, fashion, and food worldwide.

Among the three material worlds for the handles and controls of the faucets that make up the Perle collection—Natural Stone Pearls, Metallic Pearls, and Murano Pearls—the latter takes center stage in the exhibition, along with the new washbasin unveiled for the first time at the latest edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano last April.

ANDREA PORTIGLIOTTI IS THE NEW GESSI CCO

Gessi Spa is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrea Portigliotti to the company’s Board of Directors with commercial responsibilities. Andrea will also assume the role of Chief Commercial Officer, reporting directly to Gian Luca Gessi, CEO and President of the Gessi Group. This appointment marks a significant step for the growth and evolution of the brand on a global scale.

Andrea Portigliotti will lead the entire commercial structure and business support of Gessi worldwide. With a degree in Management Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan, Andrea began his career in strategic consulting before joining Gessi, where he has held various key roles in commercial management both nationally and internationally. His most recent position was General Manager of Gessi North America and Head of the Global Project Channel.

Gessi is proud to announce this new appointment, recognizing that talent, passion for the brand, and interpersonal skills are fundamental elements for success and global distinction. With this appointment, Gessi aims to continue a clear and targeted strategy, where Andrea’s leadership and vision will significantly contribute to the company’s ongoing success and growth.
