Gian Luca Gessi, President of Gessi Group, has been recognized the Italian honour of Knight of Labour by The President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano on the 26th of May.
The illustrious honour of Knight of Labour has been established in 1901 and it’s conferred every year by the President of Italian Republic to Italian citizens who stand up in the different fields of economy for their contribution to the social and technological development and to the prestige of Made in Italy.
The assignment of the honour is explained by the assertion that “Gessi started as a small workshop becoming in very short time a leader in its branch for dimensions and push towards innovation. Nowadays Gessi Brand is recognized and appreciated all over the world for design and technology of its over 6.000 products. The factory is located in “Gessi Park”, a 800.000 m² multifunctional area of high architectural value which employs 430 workers and exports the 70% of its turnover. In addition to the local reality, the Group includes companies in Tuscany, Lazio and branches all over the world and employs a global number of 650 workers.
Gian Luca Gessi declares himself to be very proud of such a high reward towards his job and towards the contribution of his company to the progress and the wellbeing of the community in the surrounding area, and dedicates this award to his father with whom he cofounded the company, to his family and to all the workers who brought the company to success sharing his own dream together.
Gian Luca Gessi had already been recognized the award “Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year” in Fashion & Design category in 2012.
In addition to several rewards which honour its innovative and design concepts, including the prestigious Red Dot Design Award, the relevance achieved by Gessi has been confirmed also by the appointment of Superbrand of Italy in 2008, and of Company to Watch in 2011.
