Singapore stands as the vibrant heart of one wide area, South East Asia, which in the latest years, has recorded the greatest economic vitality and growth. One of the richest cities of the world, Singapore is visited by millions of travelers and tourists every year.
In March 2015, Gessi opens CASA GESSI in the very heart of Singapore, close to the main fashion shopping and commercial boulevard, Orchard Road.
Just as in the case for Gessi Milano, Gessi has long sought for a very special location to open an inspirational place where the Gessi’s world of beauty, sophistication, wellness, creativity in designing the most intimate spaces of home dwelling could be represented.
Charm, uniqueness, splendor, were the qualities Gessi was looking for, for establishing its house in Singapore.
Indeed these qualities are embodied by the soon to open CASA GESSI in Penang Road. The place is as unique as one of the very few remaining Victorian mansions in the city, and even more one of a kind as it sits in the very heart of the city. Perfectly preserved, it dates back to the XIX century, and it is a much protected conservation house. Indeed, thanks to Gessi one precious piece of the history of Singapore comes back to life and regains its original splendor and grandness.
This project involved the restoration of a 2-storey Victorian building that sits on land which was once a nutmeg estate owned by Dr. Thomas Oxley, back in the Colonial era.
We wanted to call it CASA GESSI, the Gessi home, first because home interiors is what we propose here. Indeed the Casa Gessi is the home to the different ideas and concepts Gessi developed for the home, from the minimalistic Rettangolo home concept, to the soothing roundness of the Ovale home, to the organic enveloping Goccia and iSpa homes, the charming Eleganza home, the artsy, verdant and architectural Cono home concept and so on.
Yet home is not only about decoration and furnishing, it is mostly the place where a family has its residence, its point of reference and gathering for meeting and conducting its activities. Eventually a place to welcome friends and show with pride.
